If it’s the buzz of West Africa, a holiday with a touch of luxury, great food and music, fabulous birdlife, a journey with a nod to colonial and tribal history all on an old colonial cruiser up the river that marked the French route into Africa... then Senegal is for you.
Dakar is my favourite African capital city - a pleasant fresh climate, cosmopolitan and friendly with a modern prosperous West African style.

You can swim in clean ocean in the day and listen to top class live music at night while you dine on the best cuisine in west Africa.
• Take a trip to Isle N’Gor to swim and lunch on fresh BBQ fish. • Visit Isle De Gorée and the former slave fort. • Wander the bustling markets

North up the coast is Saint Louis - the Manhattan of Africa - situated on an island at the mouth of the Senegal river and the Atlantic ocean. Saint Louis was the former capital of French West Africa and is home to Senegalese Jazz. A great mix of colonial architecture, Provençal colours, and modern Senegalese culture.

From Saint Louis take a 6 day cruise up the Senegal River, from the Atlantic towards the Sahara Desert, on a beautifully refurbished colonial cruiser which has been doing this journey for 60 years.
For an extended stay there are the beaches of La Petit Côte or for a special cultural emphasis I can organise eco trips to the Casamance or the Bassari region of the Senegal/Guinea border.

See Senegal Cruise for more information and a sample itinerary.
